Angeliki Frangou’s Navios Maritime Acquisition has taken another step in its VLCC fleet renewal with the sale of a veteran vessel.

New York-listed Navios Acquisition has offloaded the 305,000-dwt Nave Electron (built 2002), market sources say.

A price in excess of $25m is believed to have been secured for the ship, which had been the oldest VLCC in the Navios stable.

Navios is one of the largest VLCC owners in Greece with 11 of the tankers on the water and four under construction.

Frangou merged Navios Acquisition with former VLCC pure-play Navios Maritime Midstream Partners last year.

The Nave Electron is the second VLCC sold by Frangou in 2019, following the 298,600-dwt C Dream (built 2000) in March.

Its four VLCCs under construction in Japan will be delivered in 2020 and 2021.
