Danish operator Lauritzen Bulkers has sold another ship as it pares down its owned fleet, but is so far holding on to its newest vessels.

European and US brokers said the outfit has disposed of the 31,800-dwt Elvira Bulker (built 2011) — its seventh bulker sale since June.

The Hakodate Shipyard-built vessel has gone to an undisclosed Greek buyer for nearly $10.3m, which is slightly less than expected. The ship is due for dry-docking.

Lauritzen has told TradeWinds it does not comment on market rumours.

The sale of the Elvira Bulker leaves the company with just four handysizes. Three of them were built in 2012, and the fourth is the 34,000-dwt Sinlau Bulker (built 2018), which probably could fetch around $19m.

All the ships were built at Japanese shipyards.

Lauritzen remains a big player in the handysize segment, despite trimming its fleet of owned ships. At the end of 2018, it operated 58 handysizes.
