A bulker master has been killed after a mooring line snapped on a vessel in Peru.

A report from the Exitosa website said the incident happened on the 37,000-dwt Unison Medal (built 2015) at Ilo on Tuesday.

The ship was loading copper concentrate.

Witnesses told police that a rope had snapped and the captain went to investigate.

It then appears he was fatally wounded as another line broke.

Taiwanese operator Unison Marine has been contacted for further information.
