Three crew members on board a Torm-owned LR2 tanker have been injured in an accident off the coast of Guinea.

The incident occurred on the Denmark-flagged 109,672-dwt Torm Maren (built 2008) during a lifeboat drill on Wednesday.

A Spanish naval vessel — operating in the area as part of a regional security operation — provided medical attention to the injured seafarers on the tanker.

Photographs released by the Spanish Navy on social media show naval personnel treating the injured crew members, including a woman.

"Torm Maren has been diverted to Conakry, Guinea, in order to provide further medical care for the seafarers in an onshore hospital. Meanwhile Torm has informed the next of kin of the three crew members," a Torm spokesperson said.

"The exact cause of the incident is yet unknown. A full investigation will follow."

The Torm Maren was reportedly en route from Lagos to Gibraltar at the time, according to MarineTraffic.
