Police and the coast guard are investigating a possible double murder after two tanker crew were found stabbed to death in the Caribbean.

The incident occurred on the 108,000-dwt aframax RBD Gino Ferretti (built 2011) off the Dutch island of St Eustatius, the Daily Herald reported.

The Italian-flagged ship arrived in Oranje Bay Harbour on Thursday.

The ship’s agent reported the incident.

The deceased were from the Philippines and aged 33 and 42.

A 43-year-old Filipino suspect has been arrested.

The stabbings were reported to have taken place in the canteen while the vessel was in international waters two days previously.

Italian owner Rizzo Bottigliero de Carlini has been contacted for further information.
