The wreck of the grounded cargoship Osfjord has been sliced up and removed off Norway.

The vessel suffered engine problems off Trondelag in September 2018, with all crew being evacuated by helicopter.

Several attempts were subsequently made to remove it, but due to its condition, adverse weather and the exposed site, the operations were not successful, according to salvor Boa Offshore.

It added that the final salvage plan for the 600-dwt ship (built 1967) involved cutting the wreck into six sections and lifting each on to Boabarge 42 using a mobile crane, before transporting them all to a recycling yard.

"The complete wreck removal including cleaning of debris from the sea bottom and the coastline was carried out in 26 days to the full satisfaction of both client and authorities," Boa said.

The ship was operated by Osfjord Bulk of Norway.
