Borealis Finance has sold its third sub-panamax boxship so far this year.

The company, whose fleet is managed by London-based Borealis Maritime, has sold the 2,824-teu Verdi (built 2006) for around of $10.7m, according to containership brokers.

The vessel is understood to have been acquired by Simatech Shipping of Dubai.

Brokers noted that the price for the vessel is significantly higher than recent sales of other vessels in this sector.

They added that Simatech acquired the Hyundai Mipo Dockyard-built ship after attempts to purchase another vessel in the sector fell through.

On 5 August, Borealis confirmed that it had sold another sub-panamax boxship, the 2,478-teu Strauss (built 2005), for $8m.

That vessel has now been delivered to its new owner.

TradeWinds reported last month the Strauss had gone to clients of Greece’s Conbulk Shipmanagement for about $8.2m.

In May, Borealis sold the 2,490-teu Puccini (built 2003).

The vessel was reported sold to Marshal Shipping of Dubai for a reported $7.1m and has been renamed SL Tweety.

The three sub-panamax boxships form part of a portfolio of 18 boxships and bulkers that Borealis acquired enbloc from Commerzbank in 2015.
