Saga LNG Shipping’s pioneering midsize LNG carrier has successfully loaded its first cargo, the company confirmed.

The Singapore-flagged 45,000-cbm Saga Dawn (built 2019) departed on its maiden voyage after loading the LNG in Singapore.

The identity of the charterer or the financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. AIS data suggests the vessel is bound for China.

However, a company spokesperson told TradeWinds that further details about the vessel's future would be released once it had completed its voyage.

Earlier this year, TradeWinds reported that Singapore’s Pavilion Energy was being linked to a potential charter for the vessel.

Industry sources said Pavilion had been in close talks over a short-term deal on the vessel, which utilises the commercially untried LNT A-Box containment system.

“Today we celebrate yet another major milestone for our company and our vessel,” Saga LNG Shipping founder and chief executive David Wu said.

“As the Saga Dawn departs on her maiden voyage, we would like to take a moment to thank Singapore LNG, our business partners, and all the parties involved for their hard work and excellent support in making this first loading a success.”
