The American Club has made two new senior appointments in its Piraeus office.

Hill Dickinson partner Andrew Dyer has joined as regional claims manager for Europe Middle East and Africa. He will also serve as global claims manager for its fixed-premium outlet, Eagle Ocean Marine.

Niki Tigka has also been promoted from claims executive at the American Club to take on the role of club correspondents’ manager.

The two hires follow on from the departure of Despina Beveratou, and both Dyer and Tigka will be based in the American Club's office in Piraeus.

The American Club described Dyer — a specialist in casualty and contract work — as a “well-known figure within the maritime community” who has a “wealth of professional experience” after 25 years as a solicitor and partner at Hill Dickinson.

Tony Goldsmith, the marine business head at Hill Dickinson, wished Dyer well and said his departure could be positive for the law firm’s relationship with the American Club, which Dyer worked closely with during his time at Hill Dickinson.

“We have always had an excellent relationship with the American Club — both in Greece and internationally," Goldsmith said. "Having worked alongside Andrew as a colleague and a friend during the whole of his career at Hill Dickinson, his move can only serve to affirm and enhance that relationship.”

American Club chief executive Joe Hughes said Dyer's expertise will be of “incomparable value” to the club and to Eagle Ocean Marine.

“We also extend our congratulations to Niki on her appointment as club correspondents’ manager," Hughes said. "I am certain that she will discharge her new duties with her characteristic intelligence and vigour."
