The founder of leading Greek marine insurance broker Marine Insurance and Reinsurance International Consultants, Andreas Karaindros, has died after a long illness.
The Karaindros family-run business has grown into one of the leading private Greek insurance brokers and developed a close working relationship with some of the country’s largest shipowners.
A statement from the Karaindros family read: “It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Andreas Karaindros, beloved husband, father and founder of Marine Insurance & Reinsurance International Consultants.
“He fought his incurable disease for many years in a brave, valiant and dignified manner during which he never lost his will and hope. We are overwhelmed with grief for the loss of this exceptional individual who served the Greek shipping community and industry throughout in a consistent and loyal manner with love and diligence.
“Andreas Karaindros will be greatly missed but never forgotten.”
The funeral service will be held on 14 October at 11"00am at the Holy Temple of Ag Theodores at the 1st Cemetery of Athens.
