Speciality Lloyd’s broker SSL Endeavour has rebranded as Oneglobal Broking under a new executive leadership that plans to expand its presence around the world.

The name change is intended to reflect its ambition to develop a global network following the appointment of Jonathan Palmer Brown as chairman last year and Mike Reynolds as chief executive in April this year.

The company was formed though the merger of broking houses SSL and Endeavour, with the combined entity coming under the control of private equity firm JC Flowers in 2018.

Reynolds said the plan under the rebranding is to becoming a global speciality insurance and reinsurance brokerage.

The new business model involves bringing local knowledge through regional representation to help clients access the international insurance and reinsurance markets though the Oneglobal network.

Reynolds said the marine brokerage, a team of 10 headed by Roger Spicer, is one of the speciality markets that he is keen to see expand.

First stop: Singapore

The first step is to add to the Hong Kong office in Asia with an office in Singapore.

Oneglobal is also represented in five locations in the US and in Athens, where George Tsavliris of Tsavliris Salvage is a non-executive director.

Reynolds said the company is financially well placed in the downturn to grow and take advantage of any market.

He said many clients are seeking a more individual client service in response to the emergence of mega-brokers such as Marsh JLT.

“We are unencumbered by legacy processes or remuneration structures, and freed of these constraints we will focus relentlessly on doing the right thing for our clients," Reynolds said.

"By building an open and accountable business on a platform of deep technical capability, Oneglobal’s ambition is to become the risk management adviser and employer of choice.”

Reynolds was chief financial officer at ACE Europe and Aon Benfield. He was also group finance director of JLT Group and chief executive of JLT Re.
