Norwegian marine insurer Skuld has promoted Ase Naaman Jensen to head its New York unit.

The new senior vice president of Skuld New York succeeds Charles Anderson, who is retiring in June 2021 after more than 22 years at the company.

Naaman Jensen, currently vice president in the office, is now working "in parallel" with Anderson until she takes over full responsibility on 21 February.

She joined Skuld Copenhagen in 2008 as a claims handler, relocating to the New York office in 2013 as a senior claims executive, specialising in defence matters.

The executive holds two master’s degrees in law from the University of Copenhagen and Fordham University.

New York still a vital cog

Skuld chief executive Stale Hansen said: "We would like to sincerely thank Charles for his remarkable work over the past two decades.

"He has been instrumental in Skuld’s global success and has established Skuld New York as a recognised, experienced and well-regarded team with the highest standard of service."

He added the office remains a crucial part of Skuld's global operations.

Hansen expects the new boss to help the business continue to provide members and clients with a high-quality service.

Naaman Jensen added: "The Skuld New York office has built a strong reputation in both the US and the global marine insurance market for its service excellence.

'Vast contributions'

"Building upon Charles’s vast contributions and success, I look forward to growing the team as we continue to support Skuld’s members and clients."

The outgoing Anderson said: "It has been a great pleasure to lead the New York team and be part of Skuld’s development for more than 20 years.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed working with some of the most professional and talented individuals in the market and I am very pleased to be leaving Skuld New York in the hands of such an outstanding leader as Ase."

Last month, Skuld took on Helen Yiacoumis to head up its Piraeus-based freight, demurrage and defence team (FD&D).

Yiacoumis joined from protection and indemnity insurer North P&I Club's FD&D practice in the Greek city, where she had been for 18 years before deciding to make the move over to Skuld.
