An LNG carrier controlled by K Line forced the evacuation of a local ferry this week on its passage into Cheniere Energy's Corpus Christi LNG terminal.

A myriad of online clips show passengers leaving a ferry as the 173,400-cbm Kinisis (built 2018) blasts its horn and passes close to shoreside facilities at Port Aransas in Texas on the Corpus Christi ship channel.

Local news reports stated that the LNG carrier, which was accompanied by a pilot and tugs, had taken a wider course to avoid a dredger that was in the channel bringing it closer to the ferry terminal.

No collision occurred.

The US Coast Guard is investigating the incident.

Ship tracking experts told TradeWinds that the Corpus Christi ship channel is famously tight at just 350 metres with busy traffic.

Data shows that Kinisis was apparently just 25-30 metres from the ferry and moving at 10.2 knots.

The LNG carrier has since loaded at Corpus Christi and left the facility.
