Dimitris Lemonidis' Element Shipmanagement has added to its boxship fleet with the purchase of a German feeder vessel.

The Greek company has acquired the 1,118-teu Malte Rambow (built 2005) from Ernst Russ for an undisclosed price.

VesselsValue assesses the ship as worth $4m.

It has been renamed Haddock under the Liberian flag and is performing a charter for Maersk in Asia, Alphaliner said.

The Element fleet has been boosted to seven ships ranging from 1,000 teu to 2,400 teu. All are chartered out.

Element, based in Piraeus, was established for the purpose of managing feederships of up to 2,500 teu.

It is the offspring of Ciel Shipmanagement, a company founded in 2001 by Konstantinos Konstantakopoulos of Costamare and current Element chairman Dimitris Lemonidis, a former Germanischer Lloyd executive.

Limarko in action?

Ships handled over the years were mainly owned by Costamare, Maersk, MSC and Germany's MPC group.

Alphaliner also reported the sale of the 1,118-teu Vega Epsilon (built 2007) by Vega Reederei.

The buyer is reported as Lithuania's Limarko, which confirmed the deal to TradeWinds, but said it could not comment on its likely deployment.

The price was given as $3.7m.

The geared vessel is currently performing a charter for MSC and deployed in the Mediterranean.

Limarko currently controls a fleet of three cellular 1,118-teu boxships, all chartered to MSC.
