SeaBird Exploration has won new deals to conduct offshore surveys in Africa and in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Oslo-listed company said it has signed a contract to acquire a 2D seismic survey for an unnamed "international" oil and gas company in the Africa region.

The three-week-long contract will employ Seabird's 81-metre seismic survey vessel Nordic Explorer (built 1986) from the end of September.

AIS data shows the vessel is currently at anchor at Walvis Bay, Namibia.

Nordic Explorer is one of two SeaBird vessels that in July were running around two months behind schedule due to equipment delays.

The company said it expects the delays to impact its bottom line for the third quarter.

Asia-Pacific contract

SeaBird announced on Monday it has received a letter of award to provide a source vessel for an upcoming ocean-bottom node (OBN) project in the Asia Pacific region.

The company expects the project to commence during the fourth quarter and run for one to two months.

SeaBird will use its 67-metre seismic survey vessel Voyager Explorer (built 2005) for the project.

The ship completed a source contract in offshore Brunei and Malaysia in April but has been idle in Singapore since then.

The Limassol-based company did not reveal the specific location of where the new surveys would be conducted.
