It is not always easy to persuade colleagues to join in with team events, especially ones that might involve getting hot and sweaty.
So some added applause to the 37 members of team “Flexy” who pounded the streets of Oslo last weekend raising NOK 664,000 ($63,269) for cancer research.
The “Frontrunners” who took part in the Oslo half marathon and 10 km courses came together from companies in the John Fredriksen group, including Frontline, Seatankers, Avance Gas, Golden Ocean Group, SFL Corp Front Ocean, joined by well company Archer and — the clue is in the team name — Flex LNG.
Ebullient Flex LNG chief executive Oystein Kalleklev claims to have been unavoidably delayed in Houston on his trip to the large Gastech meeting so did not take part — although he promises without fail to put in an appearance at 2025’s event.
Frontline Management head of decarbonisation Marius Aasen blew the socks off his teammates with a half marathon time of 1 hour and 22 minutes, with Golden Ocean’s vice president finance Andreas Naess bringing it home for the 10 km in 38 minutes and 29 seconds.
There was even talk of the deployment of a so-called “Strava Jockey” who ran in place of one member of the team who was ill on the day. No names please.
TradeWinds, however, wants to take issue with Team Flexy for enjoying the after-party so much that they have yet to submit any photos from it for publication.
Who knows — we just might have to join them next year.
