Dubai is famous for its lavish, star-studded parties, and its maritime sector is no exception to the rule.

Fichte & Co, the Emirate’s largest independent maritime law firm, drew in a who’s who of Middle East shipping executives when it threw an open-house party at its smartly decked-out offices on 18 May.

The party was held towards the end of UAE Maritime Week, a popular event on the region’s annual shipping calendar featuring several conferences, roundtable discussions and other social events.

Fichte & Co was a small, unknown company when it was set up by German maritime lawyer Jasmin Fichte in 2005.

Today, the law firm has a team of more than 25 dedicated local and international lawyers and counsel providing its shipping clientele with a full suite of legal services.

The firm has also built a strong network in other jurisdictions, working closely with firms in the UK, Singapore, Europe, the Gulf Cooperation Council, and offshore locations such as the Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands and Jersey.
