Former DNB Bank executive Kristin Holth will become GasLog's first-ever female board member.

The gas carrier owner announced on Thursday that Holth is joining as an independent director effective immediately.

"[Holth's] experience in shipping and energy capital markets and proven leadership make her an excellent addition to the GasLog board," chairman Peter Livanos said in a statement.

"The board, management and I look forward to working with her for many years to come."

Holth will bring the board to seven members, joining Livanos, chief executive Paul Wogan and independent directors Bruce Blythe, Donald Kintzer, Julian Metherell and Anthony Papadimitriou.

In March, the six current members stood for re-election, as former directors David Connor, Dennis Houston and Graham Westgarth resigned their positions.

GasLog's board has tended to have 10 members during its tenure as a publicly-traded company.

Holth spent the last three years as executive vice president and global head of ocean industries at DNB Bank.

She also worked for four years as the Norwegian banking giant's global head of shipping, offshore & logistics and six years as general manager & head of DNB Americas.

Holth has served as an independent director at Maersk Drilling since April and holds degrees from BI Norwegian Business School.

Female leadership is new to the company, but not to the group as GasLog's parent, GasLog Partners, has had a female director since its inception in long-time Shearman & Sterling attorney Pamela Gibson.

In early trading on Thursday, GasLog's New York Stock Exchange-traded shares were down just under a nickel to $3.07.
