There is a new man at the top of Thomas Miller Americas.

Leo Kirchner will take over as president and chief executive of the insurance management company's US wing at the end of February. He replaces Mike Jarrett, who spent 27 years leading the unit.

"It is an honour to succeed Mike Jarrett as CEO of Thomas Miller Americas," Kirchner said.

"He has continued to work hard to make Thomas Miller into the industry-leading firm it is today, and I will continue his legacy and the work he has done."

Kirchner has spent a quarter-century at the insurer, most recently as regional director for the Americas at TT Club.

He will retain that role, aided by TT Club senior underwriter Graeme Sassarini, who will take over as regional underwriting manager for the club starting in January.

"Leo has a lengthy and impressive track record with Thomas Miller," Jarrett said. "His dedication, experience and in-depth industry knowledge make him best placed to lead Thomas Miller Americas."

Jarrett has spent a total of four decades at Thomas Miller, the company that manages insurers TT Club and UK P&I Club.

He's also well known in US shipping circles for the firm's annual golf day, which has raised a total of $750,000 for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Leanne O’Loughlin will take over Mike’s role as regional director for the UK P&I Club.
