Transport Capital, the Singapore-based shipping and aviation investment management and financial advisory firm, has promoted Nicole Tan, its head of accounting, to chief financial officer.

She replaces Chee Tham Cheong, who is retiring after 17 years of working with the senior management team led by Philip Clausius.

Tan has worked with the same team for 16 years, first with the First Ship Lease Group and then Transport Capital, which Clausius formed in 2013.

“While I would have wished for Chee Tham to continue working forever with us, we have to respect his retirement wishes. I am, however, greatly pleased that Nicole is stepping up to the CFO role. We have the right team in place to continue our growth,” Clausius said on Wednesday.

Transport Capital also announced the appointment of Ng Yuin-Jun as finance manager.

The chartered accountant joins the company from IBC Informa. Her previous experience included stints at Unilever Asia and JCB Sales as part of her 12-year career in finance.

The appointments are the latest in a series of promotions and appointments that Transport Capital has made as part of an expansion strategy that added key hires in what it deemed important markets.

In July, Greek ship finance veteran Alexandros Valentis became a director in its Athens office, while Swiss investment banker Sebastian Wittgenstein joined to give the company a presence in Geneva.

Other key hires over the past two years have given it a 27-strong team based in Singapore, Beijing, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Athens, New York and Geneva.
