Dutch shipyard Royal IHC has secured a major order from the Egyptian government encompassing 10 dredgers and two work boats.

The company said the deal was signed with the Engineering Authority of the Egyptian Ministry of Defence (MOD).

The yard will build 10 cutter suction dredgers (CSDs) and two Delta Multi Craft 1450 work vessels.

No value has been given for the contracts.

“This order follows last year’s order for the first 10 CSDs and confirms the success of our dredging partnership for the maintenance of Egypt’s lakes and waterways," said IHC’s commercial director Rogier Kalis.

“Our regional services organisation will continue to provide 24/7 life-cycle support to the growing installed base of IHC dredgers in the country.”
