Seaspan Shipyards has appointed a new top bean counter.

The Mark Lamarre-led yard has brought on James Clarke, a senior finance professional with 15 years of accounting experience, as its new chief financial officer.

He joins Seaspan from the Houston, Texas, office of SNC Lavalin, where he was the chief financial officer and senior vice president of finance for the oil and gas division with operations in the Americas, Middle East and Australia.

Clarke holds an MBA in finance from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

“James’ impressive experience in financial management within large complex projects will be an asset to us as we continue delivering on our commitments to government and commercial sector customers," chief executive Mark Lamarre said.

Vancouver-based Seaspan did not immediately return an email asking why it had hired a new chief financial officer.

Christof Brass was hired to fill that role in March 2018.
