London shipowner and manager Navig8 has struck a new deal in Greece to boost its suezmax pool.

The company said Allseas Marine's only tankers, the Chinese-constructed 160,000-dwt RS Aurora (built 2018) and RS Tara (built 2016), are joining its managed fleet this month.

"We are delighted to announce that Allseas have committed both the RS Tara and RS Aurora to the Suez8 Pool, with both vessels delivering in June," Navig8 added.

Navig8 had said in October 2020 that the RS Tara was joining the fleet that month. It is not clear whether delivery was delayed or the ship has been signed up a second time.

The RS Tara had been booked on a six-month charter by Vitol in April 2020 at $55,000 per day, while the RS Aurora is coming off a one-year deal with PetroChina at $45,000 per day.

Mixed fleet

Athens-based Allseas also controls nine bulkers comprising supramaxes, ultramaxes and kamsarmaxes, plus four feeder containerships.

The Suez8 pool now stands at 16 ships, including all 10 vessels owned by Ridgebury Tankers.

The last pool update from Navig8 saw its aframax operation expand further in a deal that marked the return of Libya's General National Maritime Transport Co (GNMTC) with the 116,000-dwt Alqadisia (built 2008).

GNMTC had previously worked with Navig8 in the aframax sector, and the company added its 159,000-dwt suezmax Libya (built 2007) to the Suez8 Pool in January 2020.

However, the tanker is no longer listed in the pool.

Last year, Navig8 also welcomed Spanish shipowner Ibaizabal Tankers on board.

Getxo-based Ibaizabal placed its 150,000-dwt suezmax Monte Toledo (built 2004) with Navig8 in October.
