Libya's National Oil Corporation (NOC) has increased oil storage at its Ras Lanuf tanker terminal.

It said work by subsidiary Harouge Oil Company will help prevent forced oil field shutdowns, especially during winter weather which can disrupt port operations.

The company has replaced tank seven, which has a capacity of 500,000 barrels of crude, bringing the port’s storage capacity to its highest level since 2016.

NOC is also preparing to construct and replace tanks four and 12, which were damaged during military operations in 2016.

"The completion of these two tanks will further increase the tank farm capacity at Ras Lanuf," it said.

NOC chairman Mustafa Sanalla thanked workers who contributed to the replacement "under difficult circumstances."
