Sweden’s Donsotank has added to its series of dual-fuel product and chemical tankers with a newbuilding booked at China’s Wuhu Shipyard.

The company said it will a 22,500-dwt ship will join its fleet in the middle of 2027, although it did not reveal the price.

This will be the fifth sister ship in the series at the yard, with two still under construction for handover in 2025 and 2026.

Donsotank has five tankers operational.

“This new vessel is a continued step in our vision to achieve the best possible outcome for our customers, with the least possible impact on the environment,” the shipowner said.

The tankers are designed to run on diesel and either LNG or liquid biogas.

They also feature a 500 kWh battery pack and a shore power connection.

The 167-metre newbuilding will have cargo tanks coated to allow a wide range of products to be loaded, including bioproducts, biofuels, animal fats and “other upcoming commodities” in the industry, Donsotank added.

The company’s last contract at Wuhu was signed in 2023, adding two vessels.

The 22,500-dwt sister ships Prospero and Pacifico were delivered in 2021 and 2022.

Privately owned Donsotank was established in 1953.

Located in Anhui province, Wuhu is the shipbuilding arm of carmaker Chery, which acquired the yard in 2007 after it went into insolvency.
