Team Tankers has sold a pair of 15-year-old, MR product tankers as it clears out the older vessels acquired in a deal to takeover Sweden's Laurin Maritime last year.

The Oslo-listed tanker owner has sold the 44,000-dwt Team Tosca and Team Toccata (both built 2004) to Turkish interests, brokers said.

The Team Tankers board has said the sale of the pair brought in aggregate proceeds of $25.3m.

Last February, when Team Tankers struck the deal to take over Sweden's Laurin and its Isle of Man management affiliate Anglo-Steamship in a $206m deal, the company was likely to have intended to keep just the 2012-built vessels from the Laurin fleet. The deal increased the Team Tankers' fleet from 37 to 52 tankers.

The first ship to be sold was the 44,000-dwt Team Tapatio (built 2003), which went for $12.1m to Endo Finance in May and was renamed Endo Breeze. But it has been chartered back by Team Tankers for three years.

In July, Team Tankers sold the 44,000-dwt Team Tarantella (built 2002) to an undisclosed buyer for $8.2m.

In August, sistership Tambourin (built 2004) went to an undisclosed buyer for $8.9m. This ship — now named Tethis 7 — is likely worth about $11m today.

Another vintage tanker that remains in the Team Tankers fleet is the 44,000-dwt Tintomara (built 2003).

Team Tankers now has a fleet of 33 owned tankers plus 13 leased ships ranging in size from 7,700 dwt to 49,000 dwt. None of the vessels have scrubbers installed.
