Marine technology firm ZeroNorth has recruited a senior executive from Danish peer Dixa to support its expansion plan.

Anders Mayntzhusen has joined the firm as chief revenue officer. He was previously chief commercial officer at Dixa, a provider of customer service technology.

ZeroNorth said Mayntzhusen would help position the company “on a similar trajectory to other tech start-ups”, targeting “exponential year-on-year growth metrics” over the next four years.

“Scaling our organisation is a central aim … and the appointment of Mayntzhusen as our chief revenue officer is fully aligned with our goals,” ZeroNorth chief executive Soren Meyer said.

The company spun off from Maersk Tankers last year to expand its product offerings and double in size every year.

“After more than a year of successful operation as an independent company, the time is right to accelerate this even further,” Meyer added.

During his tenure with Dixa, Mayntzhusen was in charge of scaling and leading sales and marketing operations.

He helped Dixa close a $14m Series A investment round in 2019 and a $36m Series B round last year.

"I am extremely excited to start working for ZeroNorth, which might be Europe’s most promising hypergrowth B2B tech company,” Mayntzhusen said.

'Strong value proposition'

“Given the urgency to decarbonise and digitalise shipping, ZeroNorth has one of the strongest value propositions I have ever seen.”

ZeroNorth develops what it calls “cutting-edge technology” into software for tanker and bulker market players to optimise operations, maximise business, and reduce bunker consumption and CO2 emissions.

Last year, ZeroNorth secured Cargill as a major user of its flagship software Optimise in a partnership agreement that saw the US trader took a minority stake in it.

“With Maersk Tankers and Cargill as investors and a strong board of directors and management team, there is every opportunity for ZeroNorth to become the market leader by 2022,” Mayntzhusen said.

According to ZeroNorth, Mayntzhusen will create a “systematic plan” across talent acquisition, marketing, sales, customer and professional services while exploring the development of new products.

“ZeroNorth needs to pioneer a unique go-to-market strategy for maritime that involves focusing on sales and customer success excellence, as well as establishing additional revenue streams and attracting the right talent,” he added.
