Bimco has a physical presence in Singapore once again almost a year after its office in the Lion Republic closed down.

Maite Bolivar Klarup, who was previously head of public relations for Thome Ship Management, has been named as the new general manager.

She has an MBA in shipping and logistics and has besides working in Singapore been working for shipping companies in the US and Denmark.

The Bimco office in central Singapore will also be shared with staff from the Baltic Exchange and the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers.

“Our new office in Singapore is great news as we will be better able to provide direct advice and support to our members in the region,” said Bimco Secretary General Angus Frew.

“Maite Bolivar Klarup joins Bimco with a wealth of shipping experience and I’m sure she will soon become a key contact for members.

“With offices in both Shanghai and Singapore we look forward to improving our services to members and to working in closer collaboration with the other maritime associations in the region.”
