The International Association of Independent Tanker Owners (Intertanko) is expanding its presence in Singapore.
Singaporean Joyce Teng is said to be joining this week as assistant regional manager Asia Pacific, TradeWinds is told.
"Joyce is well connected and well known locally, with experience in communications and marketing," Intertanko said.
"She has a first class degree from the University of Plymouth achieving the best outstanding performance in maritime business with maritime law.
"She will be a great asset to the association's activities, looking after members and in representing their interests in the Asia Pacific region."
Tim Wilkins, Intertanko's regional manager Asia-Pacific, commented: "It will be very good indeed to have such a capable pair of hands join us in Singapore to reinforce the service that we offer members in this dynamic area where tanker trade and tanker ownership are so active."
Singapore is set to be the venue later this month for Intertanko's annual gathering with close to 500 people set to attend.
"We chose to hold it in Singapore because it is an important tanker hub. In previous years, we have held the event in other major hubs including Osdlo, New York and Athens," said Intertanko chairman Nikolas Tsakos.
"We have had very good and professional support from the Singapore government and the MPA," he wrote in the Maritime and Port Authority's (MPA) house magazine.
