Lloyd’s Register (LR) has found a replacement for Alastair Marsh, who was promoted from chief financial officer (CFO) to chief executive on 1 October.
Mary Waldner has been appointed as the classification society’s new finance head, after a long career at Vauxhall Motors and British Airways.
She is currently group finance director at FTSE 250-listed defence, security, transport and energy company Ultra Electronics.
Marsh, who replaced Richard Sadler a month ago, said: “Mary brings extensive board level experience from a FTSE 250 company and has led strategic change programmes at similar organisations to us.
“She is also passionate about engineering and I am sure will be a huge asset for LR.”
Waldner’s start date has not yet been finalised and Simon Nice will continue to serve as interim CFO in the meantime, LR said.
The CFO said: "I am delighted to be joining LR at such an important point in its evolution and look forward to working with Alastair and the team.”
Waldner is an Oxford University graduate with a masters degree in physics.
