The brand-new 4,000 sq m facility is located within 15 kilometres from Yangon ports and major industrial locations is the first in the country for a global third party logistics company. Damco is part of the Maersk Group.
“After acquiring an operating license in 2013 and opening a new office in Yangon, we have strengthened our position in Myanmar by being the first international logistics company in the country to start offering own-operated CFS/warehousing services,” said Kiattichai Pitpreecha, managing director of the Thailand, Malaysia & Myanmar cluster.
Since international sanctions were lifted in 2012, Myanmar has established itself as a frontier market with potential to become a major export manufacturing country and its own consumer market.
Damco has a presence in about 100 countries. In 2013, it had a net turnover of $3.2bn managing 2.8 million TEU of ocean freight and supply chain volumes.
