Japan's NYK has warned customers to be wary of a company fraudulently claiming to be a subsidiary.
It said ongoing "wrongful acts" are being carried out by an entity calling itself Yusen Shipping.
This company disguises itself as a 100%-owned unit of NYK's Yusen Logistics Co, the shipowner said.
It has posted information on its homepage as if it were a real NYK subsidiary, it added.
"They approach our customers, announcing as a Yusen Logistics group company, and try to do business with them," NKY said.
"As we have no relation with this company, please use great caution if you come upon the name of Yusen Shipping."
