Two bulk carriers have collided on the Yangtze River in China, but damage from the incident is said to be minimal.

Oslo-based 2020 Bulkers said on Monday that its 208,000-dwt newcastlemax Bulk Shenzhen (built 2020) collided with the 82,000-dwt RB Lisa (built 2016) early that morning.

The kamsarmax is owned by RB Shipping, part of commodity trader Reuben Brothers.

2020 Bulkers said its vessel sustained some steel damage to its bow above the water line, but was able to proceed under its own engine power to its discharge port in Jiangyin, China.

"No loss of life, personal injuries, pollution or other environmental damages has been reported," the company said in a filing on Monday.

"Bulk Shenzhen is now anchored at a safe anchor position at Yangtze for investigation and incident formalities."

RB Shipping told TradeWinds that the RB Lisa was underway with a pilot aboard at the time of the collision.

The vessel has suffered "no loss of life, personal injuries, pollution or other environmental damages", the London-based company said.

"RB Lisa has sustained some steel damage on her port side shell, above the waterline. She is now anchored at a safe anchor position at Yangtze for investigation and incident formalities."

The vessel was leaving Huarun Dadong Dockyard (known as HRDD) after completing dry-docking when the collision occurred and will now return to shipyard for repairs, RB Shipping said.

The Bulk Shenzhen is on long-term charter to Koch Logistics and is part loaded with 103,655 tonnes of iron ore.
