Daring environmentalists risked their lives to get their message across to IMO delegates last week as shipping’s climate change strategy was hotly debated.
They daubed the slogan “IMO DONT [sic] SINK Paris” on the banks of the Thames, in full view of the IMO building’s windows during the painstaking negotiations to decide on shipping’s emission reduction targets.
There was much debate over which of the non-governmental organisations at the IMO might have been responsible, but no one was owning up.
The environmental daredevils were clearly in a hurry, perhaps with an eye on the incoming tide, as they missed out the apostrophe from the word “don’t”.
But that did not take away from the impact of the message.
