A potential murder investigation has begun after a crewman was killed on a Vietnamese bulker off Russia.
Vietnam Plus cited Vietnam's foreign ministry spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang as saying a Vietnamese national was found dead on the 34,000-dwt Inlaco Express (built 2011) at Vostochny on 28 November.
The seafarer was killed in a fight on the vessel, the spokesperson said.
Local authorities are interviewing five Vietnamese crew members in connection with the incident.
"While the Inlaco Express...was anchored in Russia's Vostochny port, a scuffle occurred, causing a Vietnamese crew member's death," added Hang.
Vietnam's consular representatives are trying to find out more about the case and verify the dead crew member's identity.
The body was found with many signs of violence on the deck, Hang said.
Operator Inlaco Saigon has been contacted for comment.
