In 2022 we will continue our ongoing mission to decrease our carbon footprint, lower our emissions, increase our involvement in marine restoration, and strengthen training and environmental education for our employees.

We will enhance our monitoring of our suppliers’ environmental policies and actions, and proactively initiate more environmental projects and cooperation.

Zim is committed to all ESG aspects and particularly climate-change concerns.

We are currently working on an updated climate strategy and new decarbonisation targets, combined with a net-zero action plan, that will put Zim ahead of the regulation and at the top of the industry.

By the end of 2022, we will start receiving our new LNG vessels, part of our long-term chartering agreement with Seaspan Corp.

We believe that LNG, as a transition fuel, is currently the best available solution for lowering emissions.

Some of the new vessels will have a newly designed fuel tank, a first of its kind, with unique features to facilitate converting these vessels to green ammonia, a potential clean marine fuel.

Zim is proud to be part of this cutting-edge technological advancement on the way to shifting from fossil fuels to renewables.

The vessels will also be fitted with a digital platform for optimising their operational performance and their environmental footprint.

In 2022, we will introduce more innovative digital tools in all fields of activity, as part of our efforts to reduce carbon footprint, along with more proactive environmental initiatives, such as the installation of solar panels to our back-office grid.

We plan to increase our existing cooperation with academic, research and environmental marine organisations, as we continue supporting R&D efforts towards the introduction of a safe and clean non-fossilised fuel.
