Cargill executive Gert Jan van den Akker has resigned from the board of Golden Ocean.
He has been a director of the John Fredriksen-backed bulker owner since April 2015.
No successor has yet been announced.
Earlier this month, the Financial Times reported that van den Akker plans to retire from his day job at Cargill in 2020.
He is reportedly stepping down from his current position as head of strategy and execution for the trader’s agricultural supply chain businesses.
He will remain at Cargill until he retires in next year and plans to work on projects such as digitising trade execution, the FT reported.
Golden Ocean is chaired by Ola Lorentzon, with Fredriksen, Axis Capital's James O'Shaughnessy and shipowner Ulrika Laurin also at the table.
Shares in the shipowner were up 3.75% at NOK 50.30 each this morning giving Golden Ocean a market capitalisation of 7.23bn ($833m).
