A cyclone is expected to disrupt exports from Australia’s Weipa port during the next two days.

Winds gusting over 100 kmph have forced the port, which handle’s bauxite exports from Rio Tinto’s Weipa mine, to close.

A port official told Reuters two bulkers in the port had been moved out to sea and the facility was likely to reopen on Thursday.

Rio Tinto ships 30 million tons of bauxite per year from the port. It also handles cattle, fuel and general cargo exports.
