Torvald Klaveness of Norway has secured a new pool partner in Indonesian shipowner Meratus Advance Maritim.

The Meratus Group company has added the 53,000-dwt MDM Baluran (built 2011) to the Bulkhandling Handymax Pool, Klaveness says.

Meratus bought the ship from Eagle Bulk as the Thrust earlier this year.

Mulyadi Wibowo, chief executive of Meratus, says Klaveness’ excellent commercial and operational reputation and its insights, data and analyses contributed to the decision.

Joining the pool will give the Indonesian company access to the Klaveness deal flow, chartering offices in Oslo, Dubai, Singapore and Shanghai and to its network of charterers, a statement added.

Meratus has 60 container vessels and two container terminals. The MDM Baluran is one of three bulk carriers in its fleet, according to Clarksons.
