Seanergy Maritime Holdings has had to look no further than its own talent pool for the next chief financial officer (CFO).

The New York-listed bulker owner has chosen Stavros Gyftakis, finance director since October 2017, as its new top bookkeeper, taking over chief executive Stamatis Tsantanis' interim CFO role.

Stavros, 39, has more than 12 years experience in senior positions in shipping finance. Before joining Seanergy, he was a senior vice president in the Greek shipping finance desk at DVB Bank SE.

He holds masters degrees in business mathematics from Athens University of Economics and Business and in shipping, trade and finance from London's Cass Business School of City University.

Seanergy has 11 dry bulk carriers, consisting of nine capesizes and two supramaxes.
