The 400,000-dwt Sohar Max (built 2012) arrived in Dongjiakou port at the weekend, Platt’s reported today.
Its vessel tracking tools show the Valemax to be fully laden, based on a draft of 23 metres.
VesselsValue tracking data now shows the bulker to be ballasting back to Singapore with its draft reduced to 13 metres.
The giant bulker, built at China's Rongsheng shipyard, is said to have loaded in Ponta Da Madeira Brazil at the start of June.
Rather than calling at the Subic Bay transshipment facility like so many before it, Sohar Max haaded directly to China, Platt’s said, citing local media.
The Valemax drama started in 2011 when the freshly launched Vale Brasil was diverted to Italy during its maiden voyage after China refused to accept the ship.
Since that time the miner has seen its giant vessels become the white elephants of the world fleet.
