Argentinian authorities have confirmed that the Hermann Wulff-managed 92,500-dwt bulker Johannes Wulff was refloated on Saturday. AIS tracking data indicates that the ship is currently anchored off the coast of Uruguay and is broacasting Gibraltar as its next destination.
The Johannes Wulff grounded in the shallow waters of the Rio De La Plata in position 35 02S 057 09W on 26 May whilst en route from the Argentinian port of Rosario to Gibraltar.
Salvage operations appear to have focused on lightening the vessel by transhipping its cargo. There are no reports of it incurring any structural damage.
The registered owner of the vessel is ms 'Johannes Wulff' Schiffahrtsgesellschaft mbH & Co KG.
