Rickmers Maritime Trust has hired Tomas Norton de Matos to replace outgoing chief financial officer Gerard Low Shao Khang.
Norton de Matos arrives at the shipowner after a 30-year career in corporate banking and project finance.
Bertram Rickmers, chairman of the shipowner, says the new man’s background will be very valuable to Rickmers Maritime which is in active discussions with lenders to optimize and strengthen our balance sheet for growth.
“I am confident that Tomas will bring good insights and play a major role in charting the Trust’s growth in the coming years,” Rickmers added.
Norton de Matos has arrived from Norton Capital & Sons, which he set up in 2014.
He also worked with Chase Manhattan Bank in the US and Asia, Standard Chartered, Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Asian Development Bank and Arco Capital Management.
