A trio of well-known finance heavyweights with strong interests in shipping have emerged as potential buyers of Cosco Shipping Holdings' Long Beach Terminal.

Blackstone, KKR & Co and Macquarie Group have all shown interest in Long Beach, according to Bloomberg. EQT Partners is also said to be in the race.

People familiar with the sales process told Bloomberg the terminal could fetch over $1bn, depending on the structure of the deal.

Cosco is selling to help secure US regulatory approval for its takeover of Orient Overseas International.
