Key executives from across the shipping scene were highlighted on stage this week at New York's Metropolitan Club for the 13th annual instalment of the Capital Link International Shipping Forum.

Organisers estimate some 900 turned up for the event.

As TradeWinds reported, d'Amico International Shipping chief executive Paolo d'Amico said on the sidelines of the forum that Intertanko, where he is chairman, is concerned about fuel compatibility issues ahead of IMO 2020.

Also, Seanergy Maritime CEO said the current capesize market represents a "fantastic buying opportunity".

Global Ship Lease executive chairman George Youroukos highlighted what he sees as the benefits of the US-China trade war for the container industry.

The event also saw Teekay chairman emeritus Sean Day receive the Capital Link Shipping Leadership Award after announcing that he'll be retiring at the company where he has led the board of directors for 20 years.
