John Fredriksen and his immediate family have spent NOK 2.3m ($263,000) for an increased stake in Golden Ocean Group.

Hemen Holding, which indirectly controls the family's trusts, on Friday purchased another 50,000 shares in the Oslo-listed bulker owner at a price of NOK 45.022 per share.

The acquisition has lifted Hemen's shareholding in Golden Ocean to 49,376,353 shares, which is equivalent to 34.2% of the company's outstanding shares and votes.

Hemen also holds TRS agreements with underlying exposure to 4,705,000 shares in Golden Ocean.

The TRS agreements are priced at NOK 43.4873 per share and are due to expire on 6 June this year.

December saw Hemen spend close to $1m acquiring 670,317 shares in Avance Gas, which lifted its stake in the VLGC owner to 19.5%.
