Cameron Mitchell has been confirmed as the new director of the Isle of Man Ship Registry and will start in the role on 1 April.

Mitchell has been the registry's deputy director since 2018 and replaces Dick Welsh, who is retiring after 13 years as head of the organisation.

His career has included stints at Maersk, Geest Line and Farstad Shipping, where he worked for over 10 years as an engineer.

Before joining the management team, Mitchell spent nine years as a marine surveyor for the Isle of Man flag.

"I have seen a number of positive changes take place at the Isle of Man Ship Registry over my time here, including playing a major role in establishing regulatory best practice all the while amassing over 70 global clients and 17.2m gross registered tonnage," Mitchell commented.

"There’s a great team already in place and I’m looking forward to driving forward our ethos of innovation and quality."
