Omar Nokta, the head of US offices of Clarksons Platou Securities, says he formally will discontinue equity research as he plans to a greater focus on investment banking.
Nokta joined what was then Clarkson Capital Markets in 2014 as managing director of equity research and was named head of US offices in New York and Houston last November. Nokta said his new role will be “supplementing (Clarkson Platou’s) banking efforts,” which will recuse him from company-specific equity research.
“I will be taking on full responsibilities as head of the US office and will no longer publish shipping research,” Nokta said in a statement. “I will concentrate on managing the US operations and will keep an active dialogue with investors, corporate managements and principals.”
Nokta had been one of three senior analysts covering shipping. Colleagues Frode Morkedal and Herman Hildan will continue operating out of Oslo.
John Gandolfo will provide Clarksons’ equity research in the US, with Nicholas Gower leading credit research. Clarksons Platou Securities is a full service investment bank focused on the energy, shipping and oil service sectors globally.
