Orbis Investment Management has grown its leading stake in Golar LNG to 10%.

The Bermuda-based firm now owns more than 10.1 million shares of the gas carrier owner, up from the 8.9 million disclosed in February, according to Securities and Exchange Commission filings.

The firm was founded by South African billionaire Allan Gray.

The next largest holders of Golar LNG are Fidelity with 7.9 million shares and Black Rock with 4.6 million.

In midday trading Tuesday Golar was up $0.32 to $17.58.

The company's Hilli Episeyo, the world's first LNG-to-FLNG conversion, began working for Gazprom Marketing & Trading last year.

The company is working on another conversion, the 126,277-cbm Gimi (built 1976), and has contracted it to BP to work on its Tortue project of Mauritania and Senegal.
