Scorpio Group companies have taken up options on an additional 23 scrubbers to be fitted to its tankers and bulk carriers by US-listed manufacturer Pacific Green Technologies.
Scorpio Tankers has exercised options to install the Pacific Green systems on an additional 14 vessels that it owns or manages, and sister company Scorpio Bulkers has done the same with a further nine ships.
Pricing for the installations is currently being calculated in accordance with gas flow volumes under the terms of the two group’s framework agreement.
In late 2018 the two New York-listed Scorpio units agreed sales contracts with Pacific Green worth $120m for 52 firm scrubber installations to tankers and 28 for bulkers, with further options for 28 and 18 systems respectively.
Pacific Green has been setting up a network in Europe this year as it seeks to make further direct sales, opening a London site at the beginning of 2019 and this month an Oslo office headed up by former Clean Marine head of sales Frode Helland-Evebo.
Five staff have now been appointed in Norway including Gisle Kevin from ABB who will become vice president for newbuildings and Hagen Schafroth from Wartsila as senior technical support officer.
